Early Childhood Projects and Initiatives

Our early childhood projects and initiatives ensure children and their families have the resources they need for healthy growth and development.

Early Childhood
Advisory Council

Early Childhood Advisory Council members are appointed by our governor to provide guidance on issues related to young children and their families. These experts in education, health care, child welfare and mental health work together to continually improve New York’s early childhood system. The ECAC focuses on four key areas to create paths for every child to reach their full potential.

Preschool Development
Birth Through Five Grant

This federal grant supports strengthening the NYS early childhood system by conducting a regular statewide needs assessment, revising the State strategic plan, increasing parent participation, supporting the workforce and enhancing quality early care and learning environments.  The goal of the grant is to strengthen and coordinate the early childhood system and increase equitable access to services for young children.

Head Start Collaboration Project

Using funds from a federal grant, we build partnerships between Head Starts and community-based organizations to provide early education and enrichment for children and families with limited financial resources.

Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems Project (ECCS Impact)

The ECCS project, funded by the federal Health Resources and Services Administration, focuses on building an integrated maternal and early childhood system to promote early developmental health and family well-being.  In working to create a sustainable, comprehensive, and inclusive system, this project increases family-centered access to care for children, prenatal to age 3, and their families.

NYS
Pyramid Model

The Pyramid Model is an intervention and support that helps early childhood educators create nurturing environments that target social emotional skills and support children with challenging behaviors.
